I’ll be taking a longer-than-usual hiatus from writing here to focus on the upcoming AICP exam and some other endeavors. I will still be posting interesting videos, blurbs and links that inspire me, though – including this video which Street Sense brought to my attention.
Grass roots, community led revitalization of Broad Street in Memphis. A few buckets of paint, some pop up shops, and entrepreneurial spirit did more to bring a neighborhood back to life than hundreds of millions of dollars of highway building and decades of tourist-centric economic development efforts by “experts”.
If the infrastructure is right, suddenly, the neighborhood is right.
